Natalie & Jack
Canterbury Wedding Photographer
I met Natalie & Jack in a pub they visit regularly near their home in Canterbury for our first meeting. Straight away it was obvious they both had a great sense of style and a very relaxed approach to the day they were planning. We chatted through their ideas over a drink and it quickly became clear that this was going to be exactly the kind of wedding I love photographing. As a Canterbury Wedding Photographer, I’m always drawn to weddings that focus more on atmosphere, people and personality rather than strict timelines and traditions.
Micro wedding
Natalie and Jack were keeping things intentionally simple for their wedding in Canterbury, choosing to celebrate with only a small number of close family and friends. Although this was their official wedding day, they already had a much bigger wedding celebration and blessing planned in France later in the year with all of their wider family and friends. Because of that, they really wanted this day to have a relaxed but stylish atmosphere where everyone could properly enjoy themselves without any pressure or formality. Their plan was for a chilled reception in a pub followed by some editorial-inspired couple portraits around the streets of Canterbury.
One of the most exciting parts of the day for me as a Canterbury wedding photographer was hearing about their plans for the couple portraits. Natalie and Jack both love fashion, tailoring and timeless style, so they wanted their wedding photographs to feel editorial and modern while still being natural and relaxed. Instead of heading into the countryside, we used the beautiful streets of Canterbury as the backdrop for their portraits, creating a fashion-inspired wedding shoot right in the heart of the city.
Canterbury is honestly one of the best locations for wedding photography in Kent. The historic streets, hidden corners, independent shops and stunning old architecture provide endless opportunities for creative wedding photography. For couples planning an intimate wedding or elopement in Canterbury, it offers such a unique mix of history, atmosphere and character. Every street seemed to perfectly complement Natalie and Jack’s effortless style.
What made this wedding even more special was that although this was their official wedding day, they also had a larger wedding celebration and blessing planned in France a month later with all of their wider family and friends. This gave them the freedom to keep their Canterbury wedding incredibly personal and relaxed without the pressure of organising a huge event all at once. It really was the perfect balance.
I absolutely love photographing micro weddings and elopements because they allow couples to focus on what truly matters to them. The atmosphere is often calmer, more intimate and full of genuine moments. As a Canterbury wedding photographer, being able to document days like this in such a beautiful city is always a privilege.
If you are planning a micro wedding, intimate wedding, registry office ceremony or elopement in Canterbury and are looking for a relaxed, natural and creative Canterbury wedding photographer, I would love to hear more about your plans.
