This beautiful, short coverage micro wedding for Rosie & Charlie took place at Canterbury registry office. It was the 3rd date change for them, due to Covid and other life events. It was an intimate ceremony with family and close friends only. Their wedding was a far cry from what was originally planned. Initially a full day wedding was planned at Charlie’s family farm in Blean. This was cancelled once because of Covid, and once more due to a horrible accident suffered by Charlie a few months before the wedding date.

The re-arranged wedding was due to take place on the 31st July 2021. However a few months earlier, while at work, Charlie fell off a roof. It was an accident he was very lucky to survive.  He managed to land on one of his feet instead of his back, but this resulted in multiple breaks to his ankle. Charlie had to undergo painful surgery, and had months of rehab ahead of him. This also meant that he was in a wheelchair as he was not able to walk on it.

At this point, all Rosie and Charlie wanted to do was to get married and not wait any longer. So their full day became a 1 hour micro wedding on the 28th July 2021.

Luckily, Charlie was able to hop about and lightly rest his damaged ankle and foot on the ground. So as long as no weight was put on it, he was able to stand for short periods for the ceremony and family and couple portraits. Rosie, his family and friends kept joking about how emotional Charlie was and that tears would come on the day. For the ceremony itself, Rosie wore a beautiful white jumpsuit and a veil and looked lovely. Charlie had a open necked shirt and chino’s with comfortable shoes!

The room used for weddings at Canterbury registry office is a beautifully decorated room with great light. From the start, while waiting for Rosie to walk in escorted by her Dad, Charlie was emotional and trying to hold the tears back. The ceremony itself was filled with tears, laughter and joy. It was very emotional and beautiful to photograph, it felt a bit special to be there witnessing it and photographing it for them. After the ceremony, there was a few family formals. Then on from there just a 5 minute walk/wheelchair ride for some couple portraits in a grassy area next to a carpark! The plan was for a few pics in the gardens by the River Stour, overlooking the cathedral. However on the day, it was a little too far to manage.

Although this was not the day they or I planned, this micro wedding was beauiful and I do really love the intimacy that comes with them. If you are thinking about having your own micro wedding celebration, then do please get in touch! Below is a selection of pictures from their special day…
