Chatham Dockyard Wedding
"Colin was our photographer for our long awaited wedding which was postponed twice! He was absolutely fantastic, so friendly and approachable and good fun. All our guests also commented how nice he is. He captured the day perfectly and we couldn't be more happy with the photos and slide show we have received. I would definitely recommend using Colin for wedding photography! Thank you so much Colin!"

To finally shoot this wedding felt pretty awesome! Claire & Paddy booked me for their original wedding over drinks in Rochester a long time ago. They also booked me 18 months in advance. Then Covid hit and plans had to change, including the wedding venue! With their old venue unable to accommodate any new dates, it changed to Chatham Dockyard for the location of the wedding.

The backdrop for the wedding was the fantastic Historic Dockyard Chatham. The wedding ceremony itself took place aboard HMS Ganet, a beautiful Victorian Sloop. The reception was held at the beautiful Commisioners House, Britain’s oldest Naval building. A wedding ceremony on board a ship was a first for me, and I really enjoyed it. It did truly make for a unique setting and something completely different from what I have done before.
The great thing about this as a wedding venue is that you get access to pretty much the whole place! Claire , her Mum and bridesmaids were able to get ready in rooms on the first floor of Commissioners house. On the ground floor was a ballroom where the dancing took place as well as a bar with sitting area in another room which led to a beautiful marquee where the food and speeches took place. For the wedding portraits we pretty much had the pick of the Dockyard!
This included the fantastic 3 Slip , which has over 400 windows and when built, was the largest wide span timber structure in Europe! This was a beautiful spot for portraits and we also used the surrounding areas around Commissioners House. These would have been recognizable from the TV series Call the Midwife. So all in all a pretty cool place to take your pick of portrait locations!
The night finished with some great music on the dance floor which had all their guests up and partying and it was so much fun to capture. This was a great way to see in my 2022 wedding season and I hope its not the last time I shoot at this amazing venue.
